1. Box Breathing
Box breathing is a powerful technique used by elite athletes and Navy SEALs to increase focus, manage stress, and promote relaxation. To practice box breathing, follow these steps:
- Inhale deeply through your nose for a count of four seconds.
- Hold your breath for four seconds.
- Exhale slowly through your mouth for four seconds.
- Hold your breath for another four seconds.
- Repeat this cycle for several minutes.

2. Alternate Nostril Breathing
Alternate nostril breathing, also known as Nadi Shodhana, is a yoga breathing technique that helps balance the right and left hemispheres of the brain, reduce anxiety, and improve respiratory function. Here's how to practice it:
- Sit comfortably with your spine straight.
- Use your right thumb to close your right nostril and inhale through your left nostril for a count of four seconds.
- Close your left nostril with your right ring finger, release the right nostril, and exhale for four seconds.
- Inhale through the right nostril for four seconds, then switch and exhale through the left nostril for four seconds.
- Repeat this cycle for several minutes.

3. 4-7-8 Breathing
The 4-7-8 breathing technique is a relaxing exercise that can help you fall asleep faster, reduce anxiety, and calm your mind. Follow these steps to practice 4-7-8 breathing:
- Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound.
- Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose for a count of four seconds.
- Hold your breath for seven seconds.
- Exhale forcefully through your mouth, making a whoosh sound, for eight seconds.
- Repeat the cycle for a total of four breaths.
